Dear friends,

First Caofeidian Forum, after the successful completion of the agreed agenda, will come to a close. Jia Qinglin, Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, Chairman of CPPCC National Committee, made a special trip to attend the opening of the forum and delivered an important speech. He profoundly analyzed the current world economic situation, stated the measures Chinese government has taken to tackle the financial crisis and the capacity of enhancing sustainable development, and pointed out the position and proposition of taking a new road to industrialization. Participants raised many profound opinions and viewpoints centering on sustainable development under financial crisis, and the theme of new industrialization through field trips, in-depth communications, and extensive discussions.

Through discussions, we are more aware of the significance of “Green Growth”. All countries and regions should consider it as the common goal and pursuit, vigorously promote its development, enhance its construction, further lead the economic development to the direction, and make the world economy grow with new vitality and vigor.

We are more aware that we should take energy conservation as a shared responsibility. Climate change is the world's major challenge facing all countries, and energy conservation is an inevitable choice to restrain climate change and promote sustainable development. All countries should actively draw up international proposals for climate change, energetically adjust industrial structure, further promote energy conservation, and make a positive contribution to restraining climate change.

Moreover, we further recognize the importance of scientific and technological exchanges. Science and technologies, in particular, the achievements in high-tech fields, such as energy conservation, environmental protection, and new energy should be widely used in practices in all countries. The international community and governments should adopt new policies and mechanisms for effective protection of intellectual property rights and enhancement of international technical exchange and cooperation, so as to strengthen technical innovation for the world economic recovery and sustainable development.

Finally, we also realize that to achieve global sustainable development through dialogue and cooperation is an urgent and long-term task. All countries should exchange views, promote understanding, strengthen cooperation, and jointly explore sustainable development. Politically they should jointly promote international democratization through mutual respect and consultation on the basis of equality. Economically, they should promote balanced, universally-benefited, and win-win economic globalization through cooperation and complementary of each other’s advantages. Culturally they should learn from each other, seek common ground, and jointly promote prosperity and progress of human civilization. And ecologically they should help each other and jointly protect our planet.

The international forum themed “Sustainable Development” held in Caofeidian is of great significance for creating a high-rise interactive platform to discuss sustainable development issues, show China’s achievements in sustainable development, gather global intelligence, promote pragmatic cooperation, and jointly promote sustainable development.

The First Caofeidian Forum is a grand meeting of thoughts communications and friendship. Caofeidian has fully demonstrated its prospects of scientific development and sustainable development through this forum. Caofeidian Forum provides precious opportunities for Hebei, Tangshan and Caofeidian to learn the world’s advanced concepts and advanced experience of sustainable development. We would like to use this platform to carry out comprehensive, wide-ranging, and multi-level exchanges and cooperation with more friends home and abroad in the principle of advantage complementary, mutual benefit, cooperation, and win-win, and therefore promote sustainable development
